Questions from our clients
Can I still trim my trees during nesting season
The answer to this is not cut and dry. It is a common misconception that birds only nest from march until September, and no tree work may be carried out during this period.
This is not the case.
Many different species of birds nest at different times throughout the year However it is commonly accepted that the majority will nest during this period.
under the wildlife and countryside act 1981 it is illegal to deliberately destroy or damage a nest while it is in sure or being built.
We appreciate that it Is not practical or safe for every project to be put on hold during this time so for every project we undertake we carry out a rigerou inspection to ensure we do not damage any nests.
Before undertaking any work, seam the advice of your contractor or a ecological specialis.

What is the difference between deciduous and coniferous plants
In short the main difference between conifers and broadleafs is the way they shed leafs and reproduce, however there are some exceptions.
conifers tend to be evergreen (hold their leafs through the winter) and deciduous trees tend to loose them.
Reproduction is one of the second major differences indicating they evolved separately from different origins. coniferous (gymnosperms) produce needle like seeds that rely on mainly wind to disperse however deciduous (angiosperms) produce flowers that enclose the seed and develop into fruits.
